On Friday the 13th, an old man (41 year old Chris Horner) wrestled the overall lead in the Vuelta Espana from a younger guy (28 year old Vincenzo Nibali) on the Alto del Naranco in stage 19. After losing the overall lead in the individual time trial in stage 11, Horner did not let Nibali extend his lead, and was able to use his god-given ability to crush a younger human in the final meters of the climb up Alto del Naranco.
The victory makes Horner the first American to win a grand tour since Greg LeMond (Tour de France, 1990). Vincenzo Nibali placed and Alejandro Valverde (33) round out the final podium on the last grand tour of 2013.
